DIVIDED TOGETHER
LIVING IN UNEXPECTED-NESS

An unconventional housing typology, of an aggregated spatial sample forming pockets of spaces that creates various types of units in a different form and area. Fragments of orthogonal and obscured walls constructing a structure that binds units together. Resulting in divided spaces in between. Informing an unexpected atmosphere in the circulation around.

With the placement of the aggregated living dwelling that is adjacent to block 82 at the site of Tiong Bahru. Thereby the fragmentation of the aggregation allows light/shadow to form, in amplifying the spaces and experience within.

Occupants have their own unconventional path leading to their units. As compared to typical typology of housing, where corridors spaces are linear. Every path sets an episode in their everyday lives upon encountering different unexpected events. Which activates a theatrics aspect for each housing unit occupant in their journey back home, that involves specific tectonic elements encountered during the journey. Unexpected encounters, for instances, moving through obscured walls, bumping into neighbours and/or stumbling upon stray cats.
